The Farm is on the slopes of the rocky promontory of Capriola in the middle of the Serchio valley;
it takes its name from some typical, small rural constructions, the so-called Capannelle (which means “little huts” in English) and which are spread throughout the whole area.
Near the chestnut woods there is still evidence of the ancient rural activities carried out a long time ago and it is one of the peculiarities of the people here to carry them on even nowadays by growing trees, by cultivating large vegetable gardens and vineyards as well.
The policy of the Farm is to keep alive the ancient traditions and for that purpose , the traditional agricultural methods are being used, and less known species of trees and crops are being grown , for example mulberries, medlars, currants, spelt, gooseberry and many others: indeed, the FARM has become the “guardian angel” of those old and at the same time new kinds of products and it goes without saying that one of its aim is to preserve the natural biodiversity of the different species of trees, flowers and fruits among which we should mention the chestnut , the apricot, the walnut and the hazelnut trees along with the delicious raspberries, currants sorbs, apples and pears. They will delight your taste , amaze your sight with their astonishing colours and excite your smell with their incredible flavours |
